Gorey Celtic 3 - 1 Bridge Rovers
Celics 3rd team got their first points of the season on Sunday afternoon with a good home victory over Bridge Rovers.
As promised, changes were made for this one and the team seemed a lot more solid from the get go. Pa Murphy partnered Damien Mordalski in the heart of the defence with Chris Cullen and Tony Browne on either flank and the lads looked comfotable for the most part.
Brian Leonard came through the 90 minutes in the centre of the field and is beginning to exert his influence on this team. Thomas Crofts had a big game also and we hope he comes back quickly from a nasty foot injury.
How it was 0-0 at half time was a mystery as we carved out chance after chance to no avail.
H.T. 0-0
Early in the second half it was Crofts who got the break through stabbing the ball into the corner out of the reach of their tall goalkeeper, who had kept his side in the game during the first half making at least 5 or 6 decent saves.
This goal settled Celtic for the second half and they started to play more controlled football instead of playing at 100 miles an hour. For our second, Richie Quinn was fouled in the box and Brian Leonard put the penalty away with no fuss. Bridge got a goal back but Richie Quinn, who works very hard for the
team, got a deserved goal late on to wrap upa well deserved and welcome three points
