Bunclody 0 - 5 Gorey Celtic

A damp and wet morning in Bunclody got our away campain under way and made it a good start with 2 wis from 2 with a brilliant 2nd half performance.

Started off playing in to a strong wind and looked a bit nervy and no real pattern or shape although Adam Roche looked to be the danger bombing foward from left wing back, the back 3 Mark Doran, Darragh Curran and Ciaran Gartland looked strong, the pace and sharpness of Sammy Koegh, Shane Troope and Ross Reardon, Luca Consentino and Adam Roche going foward and the 2 boys up top, Adam Connor and Darren Bennan always offering and running the channels.

We got a free kick on 20 mins and from about 22 yards out Troope smashed a rocket in that the wall or keeper never even seen. after the goal we seemed to drop back 8 or 10 yards and where guilty of giving away a couple of silly free kicks and James Flood had to be alert to make a couple of good stops. We were starting to be sloppy all over the park and lucky to get in at the break ahead.

H.T. 0-1

We made a few changes to the teams shape with Consentino going in behind the front 2, Reardon going central and Keogh wide, and for the 2nd game in a row we scored straight from our tip off a great link from Brennan and Connor, Rossi burst into the box, held of the centre half and finshed in the corner, a couple of mins later after good work from Doran and Troope, Brennan found space in the wide left area, ran at the defender and produced a top finish, bent into the top right hand corner, 3 up and game over.

We're flying now and Roche running from his own half picked up a pass and just kept going, held off the full back and when the keeper committed just dinked it over him.
Still nearly 30 mins on the clock we emptied the bench and still looked good going foward when after a scramble, Peter Byrne, Darragh Curran and Joe McNulty could have scored, Luca tapped in for number 5.

A bit flattering if i'm honest could easy have been 1-1 at half time and had a horror 20 minutes before before the break but with the wind and our good fitness levels blew them away in a 20 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half.
Happy with the clean sheet and think Mark Doran just pipped Adam Roche for my man of the match.

Thanks to bunclody and the referee for allowing us our 6 subs to get a run when Adam Tompson skippered us home when Garto and Shane had been withdrawn.
a good effort 2nd half when the lads woke up after a poor 1st half showing.
