Courtown Hibs 3 - 5 Gorey Celtic

For the third Sunday in a row, Celtic were playing in a local derby, this time they made the short journey to face Courtown Hibs and took the 3 points to make it 4 wins from the 5 games played.

Celtic went on the attack from the off and took an early lead through Darren O'Mahoney but a lapse in concentration saw Courtown level matters and then take the lead after 15 minutes.
On 20 minutes Darren O'Mahoney struck again to get his and Celtics second to level the scores once again. Chances for both teams came and went before Courtown took the lead through a shot which took a wicked deflection to give goalkeeper Sammy Griffith no chance.

H.T. 3-2

Within minutes of the restart it was 3-3, Phelim Gallagher getting his name on the score board, on 55 minutes Celtic took the lead through a William Keogh strike to make the score 4-3 in Celtics favour.
Courtown really came at Celtic and it was backs to the wall stuff for the remaining 30 minutes or so but our defence held firm and kept Courtown at bay and restricted them to long shots which Griffiths dealt with comfortably.
Celtic made the points safe with a few minutes to go, Richie O'Neill scoring with a great strike, his first for the club.

A great all round team perforance, with Brian Maher in defence outstanding with Colin McShane, William Keogh and John Lavery who ran themselves to a standstill in midfield.

Team: Sam Griffith, Rob Duncan, Brian Maher, Dave Melia, Alan Fogerty, John Lavery, Colin McShane, William Keogh, Thomas Crofts, Darren O'Mahoney, Phelim Gallagher.

Subs: Colm Stafford for Crofts, Steven Kinsella for Maher, Richie O'Neill for O'Mahoney
