Gorey Celtic 5 - 1 Newpark United
A very good win for the under 9's today against a young Newpark Utd side who were very game and had more of the play than the scoreline suggests.
We went one nil down after a defensive mix-up but these young Celts are being coached to keep playing their football and always try their best. We levelled it up through Luke Darley and then took the lead through Damon McGannon. The groundwork for these goals was provided by great defensive work from Aidan Mulcahy and Arran Kennedy while Kyle Kenny and Ryan Finn were tackling and passing well in midfield.
It was 2-1 at half time and we were pleased with the lads performance, everyone working hard and enjoying themselves in the rain. In the second half Celtic added a further 3 goals to put an unfair look on the scoreboard. Cian Jackson got a goal after showing great determination. Luke Darley got his second of the match and David Neville completed the scoring.
Well done one and all. Training continues every Friday at 6pm and on "Free" Saturdays at 10.
