Gorey Celtic 2 - 1 Caim
This was our first home game of the season where we faced Caim and only our second game at the end of October !!!
We started well knocking the ball around and trying to play a bit of football and quickly getting the ball into the final third but we were conceding too many offsides. We must have had 99% possession in the first half but found it hard to break Caim's 5 man defence, who once they got the ball they just lumped it up the other end and we build another attack.
H.T. 0-0
We had a chat with the lads and told them to keep playing the ball on the ground as the strong wind is against us and it will suit their kick and chase game.
The second half kicks off and as we said Caim get a corner and fair play to their player who puts the ball right on top of Corey Chambers and our keeper did his best to keep it out but the aid of the wind sees us 1-0 down.
A change from us was called for to freshen up things so Flavian Haiduc comes on for Dion Leeson. The fresh legs of Flavian was giving Caim a headache, he kept running at them and soon enough we got our reward, Flavian finishes off some good work with his first goal of the season. 1-1 and its game on .
We played possession football and tried to break them down again but no luck so we threw on Ian Barnes to add a bit more strength to our attack.
Aaron Heffernan drops deep to receive the ball and uses his pace to get in behind their defence and keeps going till he's 1v1 with the keeper and he slots it home 2-1. Now it's time to play with our heads, we drop back deep to keep the ball and watch the clock go down to see out another good win.
Well done lads, 2 wins from 2 played, Great start to the season
Best wishes to Corey on his trip to London and to Jordan for bringing home the gold from Cork.
