Gorey Celtic 2 - 2 Forth Celtic
Playing in extremely wet conditions, we hosted Forth Celtic. The rain made it difficult for both teams. Mikey Dunne opened the scoring with a nice run into the box, little dummy, spin, shot and goal.
The lads had lots of chances in the first half, but the wet conditions made it difficult to control the ball. A pass into the box and Peter tried a scissors kick, but the ball went wide. Forth Celtic broke free just before half time, and managed to get one past James.
H.T. 1-1
The weather failed to improve for the second half, and again, it made for difficult conditions.
Aaron Ryan, Mikey Dunne and Peter McSwiney played lots of passes and had plenty shots, but were all saved by the keeper.
Forth Celtic got a free in front of the goal, which was saved by Peter who kicked it off the line, for a corner. Shortly after, Forth Celtic mounted an attack and scored their second goal. But our lads did not give up. They kept the pressure on, and mounted a counter attack. Gavin kicked an excellent corner into the box, picked up my Mikey, shot - just wide. More chances at goal, but the keeper kept denying them their goal.
Suddenly, in the closing minutes, Mikey did a run, passed it to Gavin, shot on goal, keeper saved it, but Jordan picked up the rebound, and scored the equaliser.
Not the best playing conditions and the rain definitely effected both teams. But our lads never gave up and came back to draw the game.
Still unbeaten - well done lads.
