Moyne Rangers 2 - 5 Gorey Celtic
The under 16 B team got their long awaited season of a winning start today away to Moyne Rangers.
The lads struggled to get into this game and were at 6's and 7's and Moyne took advantage with one of their lads not closed down quickly looked sees Corey Chambers off his line and poped he ball into the net from 20 yards. The goal gave the lads a kick up the backside they needed and we saw a big improvement from the lads getting the ball down on the floor and stringing the passes together . Jordan "the goal Machine " Doyle brought us back into the game slotting home after some good team work to level the scores.
Moyne's long ball game kept putting us under pressure so we threw on Sean lavery at centre half to add some much needed speed into the back four. We were playing very well now and "the goal machine" doubled his and our tally from a perfect cross from Aaron Heffernan with a class header at the back post to put us 2-1 up. Moyne kept us on our toes and probably would have pulled back only for our County keeper Corey keeping them at bay . Now with Half time approaching we were piling on the pressure for our 3rd goal and after some good work the ball poped out to Ben Clarke and he drilled one home from just outside the 18yard box .

The second half got under way and we flew out of the blocks winning all the 50-50 balls now we were in control but we just couldn't find the back of the net. We made some changes getting on big Ian Barnes to add some strength up front and it worked Aaron Heffernan using his pace got in on a flick from Ian and he got his well deserved goal, to gibe us a 3 goal advantage.
We started to empty the bench now as we were all over Moyne and each player that came on added to the team. Moyne did keep up the attack but we cleared nearly everything out, only one blip poor Cormac Byrne went to head clear but sliced the ball into our net to make the score 4-2 in our favour . Again we kept up attack after attack and got our reward with Aaron finds himself some space and he ran at the Moyne defence and smashed his 2nd and our 5th.
A very good start to the season, the lads are working very hard and it showed today.
