St Leonards 3 - 1 Gorey Celtic
We made the long trip to St Leonards on Sunday and came away empty handed.
We started reasonably well but a lack of a call from a Leonards goal kick caused confusion and led to the concession of the first goal. When we conceded the second there was no doubt that heads could have dropped. We had lost the returning Clyde Phayres to a recurrence of his foot injury. There is a good spirit in these lads though and James Mordaunt struck with a trade mark goal to make it 2-1.
H.T. 2-1
At half time I asked the lads would we would have taken 2-1 at half time when their second goal went in, and we all agreed we would. We owned large parts of the second half but couldn't make the breakthrough. The game then swung in the home sides favour. Brian Maher powered a header just over the bar from a corner. From the goal kick Leonards went up and made it 3-1.....Game over.
