Gorey Celtic 4 - 2 Rosslare Rangers

Lovely fresh morning in Gorey for our 11:00 kick off, although Rosslare forgot their gear and we didn't kick off till 11.35, trying to keep the lads focused and switched on our only problem. Back to full strength and the 18 all fit and healthy. Gavin Walker, Jamie Finn and Jordan Davies keeping hold of the jersey and Sami Keogh back to right wing back with Adam Roche moving in side to partner Jordan in the middle, Joe McNulty getting the nod to partner Darren Brennan up front.

Good enough start with Luca Consentino, Sami, Adam Roche and Jordan all looking neat and tidy, the back 3 of Gavin, Darragh Curran and Mark Doran looking solid and composed, and Jamie and Sami getting wide and causing a few problems. Joe McNulty making his first start and linking well with Darren and offering all the time.
15 minutes in and Sami who looked our most dangerous in the early exchanges got caught in the box and the ref points at the spot, up steps Darragh Curran and is ice cool to put us 1 up. Just what we needed and settled us down and started to play with Adam Roche, Jordan Davies and Luca Consentino pulling all the strings now. 25 mins in and Gavin who was playing wide right at times?? links well with Jordan and hits a back pass from 25 yards that the keeper lets go through his legs then hits the post and rolls along the goal line and Darren Brennan taps in for his easiest goal of his life from 10cm, and his 7th in 5 games.
Darren then becomes provider after a great run leaving 2 or 3 defenders in his wake and unselfishly squares for the on rushing Luca to smack home from 8 yards....3-0 up and looked in easy street and pleased with the effort after our cup disappointment in Tramore.

Joe McNulty then stepped foward for miss of the season, from 3 yards hit the bar when really should have made the game safe and just after we switched off and Rosslare scored from what I think was their 1st real chance..

H.T. 3-1

Its amazing what a goal can do to lift spirits because after getting Ciaran Gartland on to steady the ship, we switch off from a short corner and they work a 1-2 and score a decent goal in the corner, 3-2 and now game on again so we decide to freshen it up again and get Shane Troope and Adam Connor on, 1 to hold it up better up front and the other to inject pace and strong running with Adam Roche going back to left wing back.
Shane and Adam Connor link instantly and Troope hits a decent left foot effort, we bring Thomas Morris on now for a tiring Jordan who put in a great shift and Darrens strong running now a big problem and gets clipped by the keeper and Darragh steps up to score his 2nd and 3rd spot kick in two home games. 4-2 and now should be safe. Peter Byrne comes on and Adam Roche moves for the 3rd time, now right wing back. Peter really unlucky after a shot which was honestly a mile over the line and the refs waves play on. Gartland and Shane after both making great runs also both unlucky with shots just going the other side of the post.

We see out the remaining 15 minutes comfortable enough to keep our 100% league record in tact. The game is a squad game now and is great to see the 18 plus Cian Byrne when he finds the pitch again all making an effort and all playing for each other and more important the club and the jersey. The subs all played a great part in getting us over the line and have made 26 substitutions in our 5 league games, which proves to me that its about the 19.
Good games from Darragh Curran, Sami Keogh, Adam Roche, Jordan Davies and the subs, but for me Luca Consentino had his best game since our trip to Bunclody and kept us ticking over and gets my vote for man of the match.

Lets keep the show on the road and keep working for each other.
