Gorey Celtic 2 - 5 Rosbercon

We entertained League Leaders Rosbercon at a busy Mullaunfin on Sunday, and while we were determind to put up a better show than the away match, they just had too much for us on the day.

We started OK and were playing nice football but nice football isn't always whats needed against stronger teams. Graham Geraghty dropped back to right full and had a sound game. Chris Cullen and Brian Maher played together for the first time this season and both came through the 90 minutes.
We went 1-0 down after a misplaced pass from the back and the it got worse when no call in midfield for a routine ball led to a soft second. Good football in midfield and neat link-up play allowed James Mordaunt play David Conway in for his first of the season.
At 2-1 we were very much back in it and were having good possession and causing them problems at corners.

H.T. 2-1

The 2nd half was even enough and we were definitely giving a good account of ourselves. The corners were still causing the away team extreme difficulty and from a Mark Doran inswinger Brian Maher levelled up the match and we were flying.
From the next corner there was confusion again in the Rosbercon box and they only managed to clear after a blatant hand-ball which wasn't seen by the referee. From there we were out on our feet and Rosbercon added 3 goals which gave a distorted look to the scoreline.

I was very happy with the way we played and hope that i will be writing about a win next week.
